Maryland Humanities Hosts Humanities, Heritage, and Arts Workshop

(Baltimore, MD) –  Maryland Humanities is hosting a free grants workshop for humanities, heritage preservation, and arts organizations to learn about grant programs and procedures on Thursday, October 20 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Allegany Arts Council in Cumberland.

Participants will learn about grant programs, application procedures and opportunities. “We are excited to provide local community nonprofit organizations with access to so many funders, including Maryland Humanities. Participants will hear directly from these funders about what they look for in the projects they support and also the nuts and bolts of how to apply,” said Phoebe Stein, executive director of Maryland Humanities.

Confirmed presenters include Maryland Humanities, Maryland Historical Trust, Maryland Heritage Area, Preservation Maryland, and the Allegany Arts Council. Maryland Humanities provides grants to nonprofit organizations that use the humanities (literature, philosophy, art history, anthropology, history, etc.) to engage Marylanders in lifelong learning. Grant criteria encourages free public programming in many formats, all that use the humanities as the central tools to explore and understand the complexity of issues affecting communities statewide. Grant awards aim to engage diverse audiences and serve Maryland communities that are not currently served by other Maryland Humanities programs. Maryland Humanities grants have two funding levels: up to $10,000 for Major Grants and up to $1,200 for Mini Grants.
