“America’s Talking: A Peoples Mosaic,” is a multicultural community circle: participants talk about their experiences and aspirations through poetry and storytelling; a tableau that brings residents of ethnic backgrounds together to share personal stories with the greater population. An interactive montage of characters and cultures represent immigrant communities from Ethiopia, Central & West Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and South America.
Live Garra Theatre partners with the Gandhi Brigade Youth Media organization to film the workshop series, the participants’ backstory, family life and social activities. A documentary-film presentation is the back drop during the presentations and talk-back discussions.
“America’s Talking: A Peoples Mosaic” is intended to improve family and life connections; increase healthy and stable relationships with the community at-large.
This project is supported in part by the Maryland Humanities.
