American Association of Maryland presents Elaine Castillo, author of America is Not the Heart. The story centers on a Filipinx immigrant experience in the US with all the complexity of adaptation and finding one’s place in the cultural community, while bearing a painful past. Ms. Castillo offers an inside view of the Filipino culture through everyday activities, food descriptions, and language/dialect expressions.

The Author Talk will be held in an authentic Filipino restaurant in Middle River, Maryland to create the setting characterized in the book.
