Each year, Montpelier Arts Center partners with Maryland Humanities to host a One Maryland One Book discussion. The Island of Sea Women is this year’s stimulating read by Lisa See. The book chronicles the lives of two girls, Young-sook and Mi-ja, who are living on the Korean island, Jeju. Through marked differences on family lineage, the two friends seem inseparable. Based during the Japanese occupation of the 1930s and 1940s, World War II, and through the Korean War, their friendship is tested to a breaking point. Read the book and join us virtually for a lively and engaging discussion!
