Companion exhibit showcases Dorchester’s water story
If you live or play on the Chesapeake Bay, you know how important water is to the environment, the seafood industry, recreation and more. Dorchester County has received a Maryland Heritage Areas Authority Grant to develop a companion exhibit that focuses on Dorchester County’s unique water story.
The local exhibit, which will share space with the Smithsonian exhibit, will showcase everything from the cockpit of a racing boat to a traditional oyster shucking table. Related events include a guided kayak tour, skipjack sails, art exhibits, live music, history talks and more!
From Western Maryland to the lower Eastern Shore, our state is rich with water: it’s part of our history, our culture, our future. Maryland H2O shines the spotlight on it, through Maryland Humanities’ Museum on Main Street tour of the traveling exhibit Water/Ways, the Smithsonian exhibition H2O Today, and engaging programs to spark a statewide discussion about water.
This event is listed as part of Maryland Humanities’ Maryland H2O initiative and #ValueWater programming.
