Your Museum on Main Street questions answered.
How does Museum on Main Street work?
Maryland Humanities brings Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibitions to small communities across the state.
Maryland Humanities coordinates the statewide tour, recruiting host communities that best exemplify partnership and explain how the program will provide a meaningful impact for their region.
A team of Maryland Humanities staff and scholars work with local team to share best practices, increase capacity and assist in creating local networks.
Host communities then develop companion displays and a public program focused on local stories. Museums, historical societies, libraries and other cultural organizations partner to provide educational opportunities for diverse audiences.
