We invite you to From Script to Screen, an exclusive online workshop featuring award-winning filmmaker and director of Art of Solidarity, María Gabriela Aldana Enríquez. She will lead an interactive presentation specifically for cultural workers, museum specialists, and forward- thinking organizations ready to dive into visual and cinematic storytelling.

María Gabriela will share a clip of “Echoes from the Key Bridge: A Baltimore Longshoreman,” which was produced in partnership with the Baltimore Museum of Industry between 2024-2025 and has been awarded the Best Documentary Short Film by the London Women Film Festival, Frames of New York Film Festival, and the Milan Indie Film Festival.

About María Gabriela Aldana Enríquez

María Gabriela Aldana Enríquez is a Nicaraguan-native and Baltimore-based bilingual artist, organizer, educator, muralist, oral historian, and an award-winning filmmaker. Ms. Aldana is the director of Art of Solidarity. Originally from Managua, Nicaragua, Ms. Aldana is a proud immigrant with a lifetime of experiences between cultures as a former asylee raised in Miami as a child by her family. She calls Baltimore, Maryland home where she earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2003 and was part of the first group to earn a MA in Community Arts in 2006. She holds K-12 Fine Arts Teacher license in the state of Maryland from Notre Dame, University of Maryland.

Ms. Aldana has been awarded multiple competitive grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Maryland Humanities, Maryland Traditions, a program of the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), Maryland Humanities, Baltimore Community Foundation, and MSAC’s Public Arts Across Maryland (PAAM) Planning Grant in 2024 and PAAM Implementation Grant in 2025. She received a Baltimore City Mayor’s Individual Artist Award in 2026.

Most recently, Aldana directed, wrote, produced, and edited “Echoes from the Key Bridge: A Baltimore Longshoreman” oral histories and award-winning documentary.
