Each session will feature experts discussing the importance of integrating literature, history, philosophy, and the social sciences in industries such as technology, healthcare, sports, and environmentalism.

Heather Ersts is director of tourism development for Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (VAAAC), a nonprofit, partnership-focused destination marketing and management organization. VAAAC’s mission is to foster a welcoming destination and promote tourism on behalf of visitors, partners, and community.
Cassandra Vanhooser is the director of economic development and tourism for Talbot County where she blends Southern grit with strategic vision as she drives job creation, capital investment, and tourism. A former travel writer for Southern Living magazine and author of two Southeastern Conference tailgating cookbooks, she brings storytelling savvy and a deep network to the business of economic growth. From her dairy farm roots in Tennessee to leadership on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Cassandra is known for turning connections into results and challenges into opportunities. In November 2025, she was named Maryland Tourism Person of the Year in recognition of her leadership, statewide impact, and exceptional contributions to advancing Maryland’s tourism economy.
