Fannie Lou Hamer (1917–1977) was a Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) organizer who co-founded the Mississippi Freedom Party. Arthuretta Martin, a performer who also conducts research on the framers of civil rights era legislation, will portray Hamer at the College of Southern Maryland on July 15th.
