Wicomico Public Libraries: for Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement
Grant award: $2,500
As part of their African American History programming in February 2020, Wicomico Public Libraries will host a program that explores the history of theUnited States’ civil rights movement through jazz music. The program chronicles the history of jazz music from the turn of the century to present day, highlighting women in jazz and their influence on the evolution of jazz as an art form.

Salisbury Middle School: For Salisbury Poetry Week
Grant award: $999

In celebration of National Poetry Month, a Poet-in-Residence will travel to Salisbury to lecture and teach a series of writing workshops for the fourth annual Salisbury Poetry Week. Programming will be held March 30 to April 5 and will highlight the significance and relevance of poetry as a voice for all residents of Salisbury and the Eastern Shore, including youth, senior citizens and the general population.
